Production/Artistic Information

In the fantasy world of Treha, Eris is a Divilic, the last surviving member of a people with innate powers over sorcery and magic, having lost access to their abilities after witnessing the murder of their family and the devastation of Treha at the hands of a being known only as The Hunter. Upon learning that The Hunter has returned, Eris must join with an unlikely group of heroes and embark on a journey of self-discovery to save their world and avenge their fallen family once and for all.

Created as the accompanying production to a senior honors thesis, Call Me Eris was born from the elaborate and experimental designs of its eight characters. The project centered around taking complex makeup and wig techniques usually reserved for high-budget film and television projects, and figuring out how to transfer those to smaller-scale theatrical productions. As a rare project where almost all of our costumes were constructed from scratch, we provided an educational and artistic opportunity to student designers and artisans that they usually wouldn’t get until working at a larger theater significantly later in their professional careers.

My role on this process was equal parts artistic producer, line producer, and production manager. Due to our design needs and the limitations typically placed on senior thesis productions, we ended up producing this show outside most usual avenues for student projects at Northwestern. As a result, most of the structure and supervision that would be a given for most student shows ended up being constructed by me from scratch throughout the process. For eighteen months, from the project’s early conception to its final execution, I was responsible for all matters financial and logistical, in addition to overseeing script development, building and leading a full production team that spanned Northwestern students, DePaul students, and industry professionals, and ensuring the safety of all team members throughout the build, load-in, tech, and production process.
